Te Hapori Ora Teams Up with Greening Taupō: Restoring Nature, Strengthening Communities

September 15, 2024

Te Hapori Ora was thrilled to participate in the Greening Taupō kaupapa this past Saturday, engaging in efforts to restore and protect the local environment. Greening Taupō, a nonprofit organisation, works to improve the Taupō environment for both people and native wildlife through restoration planting, pest control, and creating ecological corridors. During our time with them, we discovered shared values, particularly in reconnecting whānau with the Taiao for mutual benefit.

In the accompanying video, Kim interviews Robyn Illis, Greening Taupō Coordinator, and Rachel Thompson, Lead Education Coordinator for Kids Greening Taupō. They discuss the incredible work being done to nurture both our environment and community, which aligns with Te Hapori Ora’s broader mission of empowering whānau by fostering connections to nature, culture, and each other.
